Daytona Beach Police Chief Spokesman, Jimmie Flynt said, “The mother noticed that they were there maybe around 1 p.m., and the door was locked, and they were playing near the door, and she came back maybe 10 or 15 minutes later, and the door was open, and the kids were gone.”
Before authorities could issue an amber alert, the two children were found safely tucked in a vehicle on the floor of the passenger seat. It is unknown if they were there the entire time.
Authorities had called in air support and bloodhounds to aid in the search.
This brings questions about the amount of resources used, and in the end the children were still on the premises in the vehicle.
